Welcome to Bridgend Chess Club Teams!
Chess has enjoyed a link with science fiction for many years. As shown above, a Tri-Dimensional Chess (Tri-D Chess), featured in many Star Trek TV episodes and movies, starting with the original series and proceeding in updated forms throughout the subsequent movies and spinoff series.
It's been a number of years since Bridgend ditched the A, B C & D and adopted some sci-fi personas. With some members it has been a breath of fresh air, while other still harbour mixed feelings and feel the formal attire of the alphabetised insignias were more appropriate.
However, no one can argue with the current success Bridgend Chess Club has enjoyed. Many put it down to the name changes bringing us luck and fortune, as we do battle over the board.
A visit to North Cardiff, and the Cheetahs go weak at the knees at the thought of crossing the Jedi. The Time Lords were unstoppable last year, and who in Division 2 would want to be assimilated by the BORG!
That said, the line up of teams for the 2010-11 East Glamorgan Chess League campaign is below. Click each link for news on that team.
